Who are you?

I’m a software engineer, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve always knew what my passion was; I’ve started at the age of 3, playing Commander Keen 4 and Wolfenstein 3D over and over, and learning MS-DOS enough to boot those games. Since then my passion never changed; while other kids were playing football, I was learning Visual Basic. My best Christmas memory was when my dad brought home my first pair of PC audio speakers! After that there was no going back :-).

Can you tell us about the products you love?

I love when a product is intuitive enough that I don’t have to learn how to use it. If I can deduce how it works by only glancing at it, it’s a good product for me. If somehow it’s too complicated to understand, it’s the designer fault. Since my expectations are high in this matter, I plan to make my work, in particular in the Linkurious back-end, as intuitive as possible within my ability; both for team-mates and for the final user.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

I want to boost my analytical skills. Gladly, I work with bright people; there’s nothing worse than being the smartest in the room. I hopefully will continue facing new problems and solving them for the most part; learning from the unresolved ones too. I’m also looking into improving my communication and leading skills; and learning French of course!

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

I would be the Doctor of course! All that knowledge of space and time in my mind… may probably be too much; but for a chance to see what the universe hides, I would bear the burden :-).

What is one thing few people know about you?

I like to pick locks as a hobby; still an enthusiast, though.

What is your favourite music piece at the moment?

Who are you?

I’m a front-end developer dad, formed in art school. Amateur of good wine and cold beer, I also drink water and coffee because I am curious by nature. I am passionate about my children, web, interfaces and books.

Can you tell us about the products you love?

I’m obsessed by the « naturalness » of things, possibly because of my formation in graphic design. I worked a lot on the book object, and I’m still amazed by the simplicity and the naturalness of the experience it procures. You learn to use a book and its purpose before learning to speak or walk. And this simple object can tell you stories on a lot of different levels. Despite the fact that its content is the more concret or factual you can find, the feelings it procures are very different for each person. From my point of view, graph visualization is quite close. You can make graphs tell everything you want. It’s open to all possible interpretations from the editor to the viewer, based on pure data and in a strictly graphical way and that’s really cool.

To getting back to the question, I use a lot of great web products everyday. But in terms of experience, I’m never completely satisfied. There’s always a phase of adoption more or less painful, and in the end, it’s never fully « natural ». However, this is precisely what I love about the web. We are at a time where software experience need / try to be reinvented. We leave the paradigm of windows to the canvas of a web page or a phone, with new interactions that the medium induced. This is a world of possibilities and I would like to contribute.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

I hope to improve my coding skills in contact of talented colleagues, to learn and deepen topics related to the visualization of graphs and its impact. I also wish to help Linkurious in its development, see the company grow, which will allow me to meet even more talented colleagues.

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

I would be Aragorn Skywalker.

What is one thing few people know about you?

I have 2 kids, 3 cats and I farm vegetables in Paris’ suburb.

What is your favourite music piece at the moment?

and many many others.

Maxime-Tribolet

Who are you?

I often define myself as a third culture child. I have been living pretty much on the road for the last 20 years following my parents in countries like Australia, Germany, India and the UK (not necessarily in that order). This lifestyle has had a great effect on the way I perceive the world and I can’t really picture myself settling down for good anywhere. I like the figure of the explorer always pushing boundaries further. Right now I’m in the middle of my gap year from my master’s degree in Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Before that I graduated from King’s College London Where I did a BA in European Studies and specialised in 19th century philosophy and History.

Can you tell us about the products you love?

Right now I’m really interested in how tech could disrupt Finance. I’m hoping it will be for the better. Technologies like the blockchain could enable us to track transactions more easily and significantly reduce money laundering and corruption. In brief, if used well, it could be a very powerful regulatory tool and democratize finance!

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

Many different things. Knowing how to use Graphs and treat data are very useful skills to have, especially since I intend to write my master’s thesis next year on ‘corruption in western Europe using public procurement data’. I also like being in a small company where everyone learns from everyone on a daily basis in a wide range of disciplines.

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

V in V for Vendetta. Fighting a totalitarian state whilst quoting Shakespear is pretty badass. “And thus I clothe my naked villany / With odd old ends stol’n out of holy writ, / And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.”

What is your favourite music piece at the moment?

That’s a tough one! I listen to many different genres ranging from free jazz to abstract electronic music. I love the Berlin electronic music scene, it’s very rich and original. Here are two of my favorite artists.

What is one thing few people know about you?

I have a real intolerance for pop music…

Meet Sylvain Milan, Software Engineer @ Linkurious

The Linkurious team is growing and we are glad to welcome a new member. Sylvain Milan is joining us a a Software Engineer. Welcome Sylvain!

Sylvain

Who are you?

I’ve just graduated from EPITA after spending one year in Dublin. I’m quite happy for having been hired at Linkurious: small team, nice environment, not much constraints, precisely what I was looking for. Apart from that, I think I perfectly match the definition of “hardcore gamer”: I play a lot, and competition is what motivates me. Sometimes I wish I was born a bit later so I could have a bigger opportunity to become a pro gamer…

Can you tell us about the technologies you love?

My favorite technologies are without a doubt Javascript and C++. I love Javascript for the flexibility, the ease of use, and the fact you can use it for about everything (client side, server side, any OS, etc). C++ is more mitigated, I hate a lot of thing about it (dependencies management, verbosity), but at the same time it really allows to make the most performant applications. I really have the feeling to switch to “hard mode” when using C++, and that’s great.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

Some WebGL. I have the feeling it’s part of the future. Also, how to build and run a start-up.

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

Probably not very known, but I would say Mashiro or Takagi from Bakuman. I have the deepest respect for people who give their 100% to live on something they love on their own, especially when they are young.

What is one thing few people know about you?

I LOVE plushes 😀

Who are you?

I’m freethinker, an amateur cook and a software craftsman. I do things with passion.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

How to manage a small team of developers shipping billions of features per week, without compromising quality.

Why did you choose Linkurious as your next challenge?
After having worked in small and big organisations, I have noticed that I felt more at ease in smaller organisations. Being passionate about what I do, I tend to have ideas and try new things all the time: I wanted to be part of an organisation that would embrace this instead of fight it.
Another aspect that lead me to Linkurious is the high-impact potential of what we do. I believe that the product we are building could be a game changer for companies that try to maker sense of their connected data.

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

Dewey, from “Malcolm in the Middle”. Don’t ask 🙂

What is your favourite music piece at the moment?

I am currently in a “german synthpop” revival phase, so here you go:

Meet Guillaume Ceccarelli, Software Engineer @ Linkurious

The Linkurious team is growing and we are glad to welcome a new member. Guillaume Ceccarelli is joining us as Software Engineer. Welcome Guillaume!

Guillaume-Ceccarelli

Who are you?

I’m first and foremost a real people person who happens to be a cross-breed of SysAdmin, Software Engineer and Entrepreneur. I call myself a Peace of Mind Engineer, as I’ve made a habit of easing interactions while working with people to make their lives, projects and businesses easier on themselves and on their users / customers.

Can you tell us about the technologies you love?

The right tool for the job 🙂 I don’t have a technology crush. I like to keep up with the times and find the best tool for the problems at hand, even if I have to learn anew on the spot to make everything work.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

It’s tough to tell, as I believe the most valuable things you learn often end up being the ones you expect the least, and it’s even more true the more people with varied backgrounds you happen to work with! I’m keeping my mind open: All I know is that there’s no way I can be disappointed on the learning front. Attitude has always been the master key in that area.

Which super hero or fictional character would you be?

Casino Royale’s James Bond for the looks and for the appetite in life, and admiral William Adama when it’s time to get real and time to make the right choices.

What is one thing few people know about you?

It wouldn’t be the case anymore if I told you here, would it? 🙂
