Meet André Barata, Software Engineer @Linkurious

We continue our “Meet the team” series with another portrait. André joined us last fall as a Software Engineer. Before working at Linkurious, he was a web developer for an advertising company.
Originally from Portugal, he graduated in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. Today, he is part of the Product Team and works on the front-end of the Linkurious Enterprise platform. He implements new features and design changes while making sure everything runs smoothly. We asked him 6 questions to learn more about him.

Andre barata linkurious Who are you?

I’m a biomechanical and software engineer who is driven by a huge range of passions, areas so different as engineering, finances, cookery or medical. Choosing only one to dedicate my time to and build a career was one of my biggest doubts, but choosing a software engineer career was a good way to keep my door open to different worlds.

Can you tell us about the products you love?

The kinds of products that I love are multitasking tools/gadgets. I think it’s some kind of self-reflection, but I always loved objects with which is possible to do more than one task. Doesn’t matter if it’s a smartphone or a swiss army knife, I like being able to use the same object to do more than one task. And the way it was thought to be functional without losing the best characteristics of each tool always amazed me.

What do you expect to learn at Linkurious?

Moving to Linkurious was a big step for me. As always in my life, I want to improve myself and in this particular case, improve my knowledge of front-end development, new tools, new strategies, new ways of thinking. Gladly, it has been like that since my first day at Linkurious and I continue feeling this every day, on every challenge, on every project.

Which superhero or fictional character would you be?

I would be Matt Murdock

What is one thing few people know about you?

I have an extreme control of my personal finances

Any favorite piece from the internet you would like to share?
